Thanks for that link. I will have to explore that page some more. We have a summer program here to cover the kids who get free breakfast and lunch during the school year at school. So they have a summer program to continue those free meals.
The tv news did a story on it and I was just aghast at the comments. TONS of people complained about the "freeloaders". They said if they already get food stamps then they should just suck it up. Many pointed out that they do not get an increase in food stamps in the summer and now the kids are at home. The general tone of the comments was things like "then don't have kids", "just have them eat peanut butter all summer" (I commented to that pointing out the HUGE increase in the cost of PB this year) but the one that said "just because you have kids doesn't mean they are entitled to eat." The person went on to say that maybe if the parents saw their kids go hungry they would get a better job. Disgusting!
